Overcoming roadblocks to your New Year goals

"I can't achieve my goals because..."

When it comes to achieving your goals, there are some common ‘roadblocks’ that we see all too often. We don’t want to call these ‘excuses’, as they can feel like very real struggles for some. However, these road-blocks aren’t always true, and are usually a manifestation of our own limiting beliefs or lies that we tell ourselves. 

But it’s 2025 gf…and we aren’t letting limiting beliefs stop us from achieving our goals this year! So, here are 4 common roadblocks, and how you can overcome them and make 2025 your best year yet! 

“I'm not motivated”

  • You've probably heard us say this before, but achieving your goals is all about discipline over motivation

  • No one is motivated all the time, so it's important you don't rely solely on motivation to achieve your goals

  • The best way to build discipline is by creating habits

  • This way you'll still show up to the gym/get your steps/do your meal prep even if you don't want to, as it will become part of your routine

“It's too hard”

  • If you tell yourself it's going to be too hard - then it will be gf!

  • Remember, mindset is everything when it comes to your health and fitness goals

  • If you feel overwhelmed, start by setting 1-2 really small goals that feel achievable (eg. drinking enough water or hitting your step target)

  • Achieving these small goals will build your confidence and self-efficacy, and you'll realise you actually can do hard things!

“I don't know how to”

  • Having an action plan is essential, but with so much conflicting information on social media/the internet, it can be hard to know what you actually need to do to see results

“I have no support”

  • Sticking with your health and fitness goals can be very difficult without a support network or accountability

  • Tell your friends/family about your goals and why they are important to you, and let them know how they can support you!

  • Find an accountability buddy/gym bestie
